The Black Diamond’s Lineage
The Black Diamond Chicken is a mix of several breeds, with Ayam Cemani being a predominant one.
Danny Eiland, the former owner of S&G Poultry, developed this breed. Danny has spent a lifetime in poultry genetics, and he’s one of the few remaining American geneticists who understands the complicated world of poultry genetics. He adhered to what he calls “The Mixing Pot” when developing the Black Diamond Chicken cross so as not to lose Bantam Silkie characteristics like black skin, five toes, and soft feathers.
