The Well-Rounded, Profitable Aquila Chicken
The Aquila lays around 200 to 220 eggs in 52 weeks of lay.
The Aquila’s Lineage
Just like the Sagitta, the Aquila chicken was developed by Henry Saglio, using Rhode Island Reds, Black Australorps, and a bit of White Plymouth Rock.
Aquila Chickens’ Outstanding Features
As mentioned above, Aquila chickens are excellent egg layers, providing 250-280 light-brown, large to extra-large eggs annually. The Aquila shares characteristics with the Sagitta Chicken, but is mostly an iridescent black color with a small amount of red tint in its feathers. When Aquila hens are 16 weeks old, they will weigh 5 to 5.5 pounds. In just 12 weeks, cockerels will reach 5 pounds. Their hardiness and calm demeanors make them great additions to any farm.
