Jackie Chickens have replaced our line formerly known as the Red Ranger broiler. They reach market weight more slowly than others, are heavy-bodied, with long keels and beautiful big, red combs. This breed, hatched and shipped directly from our family hatcheries to you, will add character to your free-range farmyard, backyard, or broiler business.

Freedom Ranger
In 2005, Kendall and his wife Ginger started hatching chicks in their two-car detached garage. The operation eventually expanded and was launched as Fox Farm & Hatchery, Inc. The Foxes then purchased the Freedom Ranger brand and incorporated the business under the name Freedom Ranger Hatchery, Inc.

As mentioned above, if you’re looking for Red Ranger male broiler chicks, you’ve come to the right place. Jackies have replaced those Red Rangers, and we’re happy to provide these meaty, slow-growing broilers to you—straight from our family’s incubators.

Characteristics of Jackie Chickens

These crossbred, slow-growing, heavy-bodied, red broilers have been developed to have a longer keel and to provide more of a “country chicken” feel. They are not related to the Freedom Ranger chicken, which originated from the Label Rouge Program in France. Jackies reach 5-6 pounds by 11-13 weeks of age.

As you prepare to enter the easy ordering process for Jackie chickens, you’ll be asked to select your ship-date choice and tell us if you’d like to have your broiler chicks vaccinated against Marek’s Disease. These broiler chicks are generally ordered as all-male, but if you’d like straight-run (mix of females and males) or all females, contact us to check availability.
